It is possible to make arrangements for hotel bookings and a variety of trips and programs on Zanzibar directly when you arrive on the island. However the most reputable service providers are often fully-booked and there is a great risk of making contact with a disreputable agent. Also note almost all Stone Town hotels with character are small and book up well in advance. For this reason the AAE would recommend making bookings in advance. It is also possible to pay very high sums for identical services. You may consider EWP - a respectable AAE member (please see our comment book for client feedback) as a first step.
